Community Upliftment

Sometimes the smallest seeds create the biggest change. Through our partnership with Enactus students, the Sack Farming initiative is giving schools the tools to grow their own food and feed their communities. This started as an idea in KwaZulu-Natal and has blossomed into thriving food gardens that not only supplement school feeding schemes but also teach children the value of sustainability and self-reliance. For many learners, these gardens are more than just rows of vegetables, they are lessons in resilience, teamwork, and the power of nurturing something that grows. In one school, learners proudly take home fresh spinach to share with their families, a simple act that strengthens households and inspires a culture of growing food at home. As the project expands into the Eastern Cape, more schools are joining this journey, turning simple sacks of soil into opportunities for nourishment, income, and hope for the future.

Infrastructure Development

Due to reports on the lack of proper sanitation and ablution facilities in villages across the country, the Staff Initiative planned for 2024/2025 is towards infrastructure development. Employees were provided with the selection criteria and requested to nominate schools that could benefit from this initiative.

We have received 32 school nominations from staff.  Sasria has requested the Adopt A School Foundation to assist with due diligence and implementation.

Due diligence and need analysis were conducted by Adopt A School Foundation. After a thorough research Tjitjila Secondary School in Limpopo was considered as the needy according to the Department of Education priorities. The proposal outlines a plan for the construction of a four-classroom block to address the school’s immediate needs.
